Sample index of items from Idiom, Volume 40, Issues 1 and 2 of 2004.
(Idiom is the journal of the Victorian Association for the Teaching of English)

There are three sample pages you may access:
1.  View ALL records at once.
2.  Search for specific records that contain ONE selected word or phrase.
3.  Search for specific records that contain TWO  words or phrases.

Note that the layout and style of the pages, and of each displayed record, are basic samples only, and may be modified to suit particular requirements.

1.  VIEW ALL RECORDS
Clicking on the first button below will produce a data list of all Idiom index records currently held on-line. The list is sorted in alphabetical order of Title, Volume and Edition number.

2.  SEARCH FOR RECORDS CONTAINING ONE SELECTED WORD OR PHRASE
Type up to 40 characters, including spaces, of ALL OR ANY PART OF:  a Title, Subject, Author's name, or any other key word or phrase etc.
As an example of searching for a part-word, if you type "lit" you will find records containing reference to "literature" or "literacy" (and in some cases both, where they appear in the same record).
Accurate use of upper and lower case is not necessary (but it helps to be accurate).  For example, if you search for "literacy", you will find all records containing reference to "literacy" and "Literacy".
Clicking on the search button next to the search-text field will produce a results data list extracted from all Idiom index records currently held on-line. If no records containing your search text are found, the screen will remain empty below the heading information. To empty the text field, click the Reset button.

3.  SEARCH FOR RECORDS CONTAINING TWO SELECTED WORDS OR PHRASES
The following text input controls operate in the same way as for Sample 2, above, except that here you can search for records containing TWO different text words or two different phrases that may be in the same record. The benefit of this is that you are able to narrow your search for records to more specific limits.  You may type up to 30 characters, including spaces, into each text field:
Example: Type "media" into one of the text boxes below, and type "literature" into the other (the order doesn't matter). "Literacy" and "learning" is another example.
Note that in this sample you must type an entry into BOTH text fields, otherwise when you carry out your search all you will receive is a warning message. If you find no results from your search, it means there are no records containing references to both your search terms.

The two search modules above are samples only.  Depending on requirements different types of searches are possible.
