THE MAGAZINE
A 52-page, shortened not-for-sale sample version of Popular Stories Illustrated has been completed. It includes eight short stories, all containing at least two illustrations, and there is also an eleven-page comic strip tale.  The outside front and back cover is in colour;  inside pages are in black and white.  The purpose of this limited not-for-sale version of the magazine is to promote the publication, subscriptions and sales of a larger for-sale edition.

A small number of hard copies of the mag have now been printed on B5-sized paper, and are being sent out to various sources for feedback and criticism.  Glossy colour cover;  black and white inside pages on standard paper. (16 Oct 2009)

A larger for-sale edition will later be produced, containing everything in the sample edition plus more stories, illustrations and at least another comic strip (already being written and drawn); publication date is not yet set for the full version, as illustrations cannot be commenced until final selection of short stories is completed. Submissions are still open for this version of the magazine. Further for-sale editions beyond this edition are dependent on many factors, including subscriptions!

TYPES OF STORIES
In general the magazine is looking for written short stories and comic strip tales that cover a wide range of popular genres. These include, but are not limited to: spy thrillers, historical adventure, war, detective mysteries of various kinds, science fiction/fantasy and its variants, American westerns, Australian outback gothic, bushrangers, jungle tales, pirates and high-seas adventures, sports heroics, intrepid aviators, melodrama-romance, even super-hero or masked avengers etc (but preferably not in spoof mode). The list and the variations are endless, and the emphasis is on well-written, well-illustrated entertainment.
