Main Indexing and On-line Database Information Page
An index of reviews published in The
Saturday Age and The Weekend Australian newspapers during 2004.
Sample Index of Newspaper Reviews of Books, Films
and Art Gallery Exhibitions.
These sample web pages contain records of indexed newspaper reviews
published during 2004. There are three sample pages you may access:
1. View ALL records at once.
2. Search for specific records that contain ONE selected word or phrase.
3. Search for specific records that contain TWO words or phrases.
Note that the layout and style of the pages, and of each displayed record, are
basic samples only, and may be modified to suit particular requirements.
1. VIEW ALL RECORDS
Clicking on the first button below will produce a data list of all Arts index records
currently held on-line (i.e. those records for 2004). The list is sorted in
alphabetical order of Book Title, Film Title and Visual Arts Title.
2. SEARCH FOR RECORDS CONTAINING ONE SELECTED WORD OR PHRASE
Type up to 40 characters, of ALL OR ANY PART OF: a name (e.g. an
author, film director or actor, or someone who may be referred to in an arts
newspaper review); or a subject (e.g. World War Two, September 11); or a book or film
title, or a genre such as
science fiction, thriller, crime etc.
Clicking on the search button next to it will
produce a results data list extracted from all Arts index records currently held on-line.
If no records containing your search text are found, the screen will remain empty below
the heading information. To empty the text search field, click the Reset button.
3. SEARCH FOR RECORDS CONTAINING TWO SELECTED WORDS OR PHRASES
The following controls operate in the same way as for Sample 2, above,
except that here you can search for records containing TWO different words or
two different phrases that may be in the same record. The benefit of this is that you are able to narrow your search
for records to more specific limits. You may type up to 30 characters into each text
field:
Example: type "smith" into one of the text boxes below, and type "tyler"
into the other (the order doesn't matter).
Other examples: "Stalin" and "Hitler"; "sport" and
"drugs"; "Harry Potter" and "Rowling".
Note that you must
type an entry into BOTH text fields, otherwise when you carry out your search all you will
receive is a warning message. If you find no results from your search, it means there are
no records containing references to both your search terms.
The two search modules above are samples only. Depending on requirements
different types of searches are possible.
